New face at the helm of Singers
A former cross country athlete is now running the Singers Bar and Bistro at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
Mark Medley, who has been appointed manager of the 25-strong workforce at Singers, was among the successful West Midlands Schools' Cross Country Under-20s Championship winning team.
The 26-year-old is now focusing his efforts on the bar and bistro which is to undergo a small refurbishment to transform the coffee lounge.
"We are aiming to entice more businessmen and women to Singers and will refurbish the coffee lounge by introducing modern furnishings," said Mark, who is an avid Coventry City supporter.
"Our great location near the M6 means it is a great place to meet colleagues from throughout the country for coffee and lunch at meetings during the day.
"This is a big opportunity to be working for Compass, who run the hospitality operation at the Ricoh, since they are the world's largest contract caterer.
"My initial aim is to make the local community more aware of the superb menu that we have for lunches and evening meals at Singers.
"The standard of the food and value for money is fantastic and we are open seven days a week so we want to encourage more local people to come here to share their special celebrations with us."
Mark, who lives in Holbrooks, started his career in the industry when he joined Holiday Inn Coventry as a waiter when he left Coventry's Ernesford Grange School and Community College aged 16.
He stayed at the venue for five years, gaining promotion to bar manager, before moving to the Village Hotel and Leisure Club off the A45 in the city where he was restaurant manager for four years until his switch to the Ricoh Arena.
